Description

Island360 is seeking fast-paced, dedicated, creative, and knowledgeable individuals to produce articles for its website, island360.net. These individuals should have a high degree of grammatical knowledge, be interested in the Caribbean, and should also be web-savvy and a team player. Knowledge of AP style is a plus.

Island360 is a Caribbean lifestyle brand that brings news to our audience via multiple outlets. We are seeking to expand our website editorial team by bringing in new writers to help us produce a steady stream of three articles per day. These articles are typically feature articles, though there is also a need for hard news articles as they break in real-time.

This internship is perfect for anyone who is seeking to expand his/her portfolio, or gain valuable knowledge of what it takes to be a writer in the age of technology. You will work closely with the current editorial team to come up with story ideas and to vet out the articles before posting. Academic credit is available but not required.

Responsibilities

Write articles for island360.net
Research story ideas and assigned markets
Participate in conference calls to discuss ideas
Be able to blog on designated days about related topics

Requirements

This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, proofreading skills, and the ability to meet deadlines and effectively multi-task. Some knowledge and a love for fashion, art, music, and lifestyle of the Caribbean will be beneficial, though not required. Candidates pursuing a degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or another related field are strongly preferred.
