JetBlue Airlines is giving some real competition these days! I’m guessing their light bulbs went off as they finally decided to add more routes to the Caribbean and other international destinations.
On May 1, 2014, they added a Fort Lauderdale to Port Of Spain route to their roster, due to great response from the February 2014 debut of non-stop flights from New York’s JFK to Trinidad’s POS.
“We look forward to bringing lower fares and award-winning customer service to these routes. The largest population of Trinidadians in the U.S. live in New York and Florida. Our new service will provide customers with an inexpensive option for travel to Port of Spain, whether traveling for vacation or to visit friends and family,” said Scott Laurence, JetBlue’s VP of network planning, in a press release.
Not only have they added more flights to Trinidad, but Port Au Prince, Haiti is looking like a go this winter too, pending government approval of course.
Thank goodness for that! I’m sure you all can relate to the struggle of looking for a non-stop flight to Trinidad for Carnival. Talk about depressing, eh? Although, flights are not available for 2015 as yet, make sure you keep your eyes open because these flights are only available once-daily for a 7:30 AM FLL non-stop flight going and a 11:46 AM POS non stop flight coming back. Hopefully they will add more because those will sell out quick! Big ups to JetBlue, thanks for coming through in the clutch!
