Since ITS inception, Restaurant Week has been a proud staple on Jamaica’s culinary landscape. Not only has it celebrated the island’s rich tradition of cuisine, culture and entertainment, but also played an integral role in showcasing Jamaica as the ultimate culinary destination to the world.
Now in its ninth year, SSCo Event Management and The Gleaner Company will again celebrate Jamaica’s most anticipated food event, November 8-17.
This year, more than 85 of Jamaica’s finest restaurants will participate in Restaurant Week 2013, going beyond our shores to the Big Apple. From the fine-dining setting of Epicurean restaurants to the grab-and-go options in the ‘Nyam and Scram’ category – we have everyone covered.
This year, we have decided to ‘Raise a Fork and Lift the City’. We are cognisant of the challenges and potentials inherent in inner-city communities. As such, we are excited to take our experiences, energy and successes to make positive, lasting and sustainable differences in Southside, Kingston, through our officially selected charity – the City Life Organisation.
Today, we will host our annual launch in Southside – at the intended future home of a state-of-the-art 24-hour Community Centre – which strongly seals our unequivocal commitment to work with City Life to create a safe space that will meet the needs of high-risk youth and vulnerable children.
The launch will be an evening of food and festivities, a truly fun, high-energy, inspirational event that will be a reflection of what we envision this centre to represent in the lives of community members.
So let’s raise our forks to the most delectable event ever – Restaurant Week 2013!
