Today, as you may know, is an International Holiday of sorts: Bob Marley’s 69th birthday!
Around the world, people are celebrating and honoring the life of one of the greatest musicians to ever walk the Earth.
In Canada, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has declared today, Feb. 6, Bob Marley Day. In his official proclamation, Ford said, “We honor the legacy of Robert (Bob) Nesta Marley, an influential musician, advocate for human rights and international ambassador of peace.”
This is the way not just Ford, but many people around the world think of the renowned Bob Marley.
Bob traveled the world performing in hundreds of cities for thousands of people. His songs can still be heard today from the roads in Nine Mile, Saint Ann, Jamaica, his home town, to the beaches of California, to the streets of London.
He died at the young age of 36, but still lives on today through his music that will forever incite love, unity and peace around the world.
And today, especially, we honour him for his ongoing global impact.
Here is a video of one of his concerts in Santa Barbara, California, in 1979. Enjoy!
